Ashley Coombes, Scotland Photographer

I am a business photographer specialising in Corporate Portraits and Professional Headshots for the business community across Scotland.

Most of the work I produce is for organisations developing their marketing material and as well as portraits, commissions often include photographing conference and events, creating lifestyle product imagery or architecture and interiors.

After working closely with Ashley over many years, I can safely say that his reputation for high quality pictures, combined with efficiency and reliability is second to none. I would not hesitate to use him for any job – however challenging!
Magnus Linklater, Scotland Editor, The Times

I have worked as a photojournalist all my working life. From Journalism college in Sheffield through local news in the Midlands to working for the Times in London and then Scotland, my camera has taken me to a lot of places and pointed at a lot of faces! From James Brown to Gordon Brown…. and all points in between.

Cutting my teeth on Fleet Street

Working for The Times, the FT and many other national broadsheet newspapers and magazines for over 15 years has given me a wide breadth of experience in many areas of photography…. location portraits, photojournalism for magazines, studio work with complex lighting setups and of course news and current affairs. Almost every shoot has involved working in cooperation with my subjects to tell their story and create eye-catching pictures which leap off the page.

The foundation of what I do now

A life as a photojournalist has proved to be a great foundation for the paths my photography now follows. Corporate Portraiture and Commercial work allows me to put into practise all that I learnt during the media years!

Composing beautiful images in difficult lighting conditions, working to tight deadlines, with complicated briefs and with challenging subjects.
